Sinner’s Song

Damaged skulls wandering around

Bouncing atop pavements with gruesome sound.

Squealing, squelching, burning forms

Whistles and sirens resounding hour late.

Survivors few, lives long gone

Singing the sinner’s mournful song.

Life given upon silvered trays

Gifts most often thoughtlessly betrayed.

Recognize presents displayed through air

Live life with more than a whimsical care.

Timber

Fragile petals drifting down,
Forming innocence’s crown,
Be-speckeling moistened earth and dirt,
Beneath occipital pain and woe.

Sun beams glisten through the trees,
Shining light upon a member new.

Ants rustle through leaves nearby,
Anticipating activity for on nigh’.

The faithful carrion dance and sing,
Their beautiful dinner cacophony.

Worms and shining busboys attend,
Wiggling through the external auditory meatus and in.

Fluttering wings land upon eyelash and lid,
Fathoming their brethren’s movement back then.

All the while wind rushes past,
Allowing scent of metamorphosis to fly fast.

Red blood cells stilled and cavities closed,
Adipose tissue depleting out,
Every occupant, every member evicted,
When the cardiovascular system whispered,

“Timber”.

Hand in Hand

Crowded sidewalks filled with color
People passing by abhorred with odor
Your hand held mine
As they walked on by
Ignorant to our feelings
Our minds danced together, reeling.

Take my hand and we will dance away
Just the two of us together forever
hand in hand
Let everyone watch as we dance on by
Their deafened ears blind to our folly
hand in hand
Just the two of us together forever
We will show the world how to dance

‘Never leave me, my love’ I whisper
The chill of night frosting grass crisper
Without your hand in mine I feel nothing
Leave nothing untouched in this soul of mine
Brand each part of this heart in your time.

Grey hairs progress with each fated kiss
One moment apart equals a lifetime missed
Hand in hand
Wrinkles conquer the plains of love
Soon there are too many creases to fill with just one touch.

Take my hand and we will dance away
Just the two of us together forever
hand in hand
Let everyone watch as we dance on by
Their deafened ears blind to our folly
hand in hand
Just the two of us together forever
We will show the world how to dance

Your love blessed me a thousand times
Now rest my love, my eternal valentine
Rest your eyes and think of me
We shall love again when we are free
Hand in hand.

Progress

Each footstep pounding against rain drop ground alters and changes life with its final sound. Such finality, such complexity, condemning forceful wind daring to oppose the desired direction. Moving forward, moving back, moving through time prohibits such a knack. Either the body moves or the body dies, withering to nothing where it lies. Lips pressed taut and eyes shut wide, forgetting its faithful polypeptide. Nourishment arrives on a dime, rescuing forms living in Death’s time.

Nourish the mind, nourish the heart, nourish the soul and nourish the life.
