Land Mine

Ticking silently beneath grass and dirt,
Amassing destruction to fatally hurt.
Cloaked beneath earth no one knows,
Metallic and deadly it quickly grows.
Mother Nature detests the thing,
Angrily growing a reclaiming ring.
Swallow it deeper, consume it faster –
May no mortal ever meet this Reaper.

Seeping through clumps and blades,
Refreshing company comes to aide.
Rushing through particle and root,
Calming calamity cools the brute.
Flowing around titanium walls,
Every touch soothes ticking calls.
Rusting walls soon slough away,
In the face of true love’s day.
